I'm still a little behind on my comics. But I did manage to pick a comic of the week that was a recent issue. Punk Rock Jesus #6. This is the last issue in the miniseries, and it's appropriately entitled "Revelations." There are two major reveals in this last issue. The first one I had no clue, but it did help enrich the character of Thomas McKael. The second one I had been waiting for all along in regards to whether Chris was the true "messiah" and the circumstances surrounding his cloning.
This series has been very impressive and fun to read. I'm not one for social commentary on politics, religion, and all that. But this series was very well done. A very biting look at our perception of religion, politics, and even reality television in our society today. Also, a nice parallel on how "Christians" would really react to a second coming of Christ. Would they really be more like the apostles or the Pharisees and Saducees of Jesus' day?
I cannot recommend this series enough. I will even say it is my pick for the comic of 2012. Pick up Punk Rock Jesus #6 in your local comic shop or digitally on www.comixology.com.
